# Trinity WAIF Military Complex

When the Antonym first attacked earth, It took a while for the governments and populations to realize how much life was about to change. Humanity was yet unsure as to whether the aliens were here to destroy human civilization, enslave them, or simply exploit them. Global nation states quickly joined forces to create WAIF, a World Anti-Alien Invasion Force, in a desperate attempt to keep the Antonym at bay.

All around the world, military bases and complexes were enrolled and assigned to WAIF in order to control the alien progression and defend strategic points.The Trinity WAIF Military Complex was one of those bases. It was strategically positioned to defend both Trinity Island, and major naval trade routes of the Indian Ocean, key to human defense logistics.

Under attack, soldiers defended the military complex and, with no possibility of fleeing the island, ultimately surrendered when the second most lethal alien fleet finally submitted the whole island.

While the base was of vital importance to humans, it was not of great interest to the Aliens, who quickly abandoned it to decay and rust. For decades, it remained unused and unoccupied, like most of the island until one day, an alien craft flew over, scanning earth for who knows what. \
\
Soon after that, a cargo spaceship landed and work began, bringing the Trinity Island back to - alien - life. The Complex remained untouched, but pretty soon resistance reports and word of mouth transmitted that the aliens had erected new buildings and started mining operations nearby.

For years and years, the Antonym relentlessly fractured earth's crust with energy beams and other sophisticated technologies. The facility grew, with the addition of laboratories, living quarters and command centers. The few humans allowed into the complex began reporting that the aliens had finally found what they were looking for. But what was it? To this day, it remains unknown.

After decades of operation, the complex was suddenly shut down. Space cargo craft were seen loading for days and days, then flying off to space. Shortly thereafter, the Antonym packed-up and left Earth, leaving behind a disoriented human civilization and the remains of their own technology.

Soon, chaos ensued and humans fell back to their old failings, unable to gather and rebuild. It did not take much time for what we now call the Downfall to begin.

At great scale, humans started hunting for lost Alien technology and relics, scavenging to survive. They quickly found that Trinity Island, with its decades of alien presence, was a place where rewards would be very much worth the risks.

Since then, both the old WAIF Military Complex and the Alien mining facility have become the theatre of violent confrontations under permanent assault of Downfallers, fighting for the control of territories and strategic points. The whole place is now a battleground, filled with junk and debris, where resonate the laments of the wounded and desperate ones.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://nemesis-downfall.gitbook.io/nemesis-downfall/lore/trinity-waif-military-complex.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
